If you can breathe, you can do yoga!
Breathwork (pranayama) and Meditation (dhyana) are two integral branches of the tree of yoga. They are separate, but complementary practices available to anyone, anywhere at anytime. Both breathwork and meditation are simple in concept yet profound in effect, with many measurable benefits:
increased wellbeing and vitality
improved emotional regulation
enhanced concentration
established sense of peace and equanimity.
Over this 4-week Breathe & Meditate series, we will delve into the foundations of these two essential practices. You'll learn how to practice effectively, and gain the tools to establish a consistent breathwork & meditation practice at home.
Each class will have elements of theory, discussion and practice, with the opportunity to address further questions. You can drop into a single session or register for all four. All levels of experience are welcome - there is no better time than the present.
About the teacher:
Michelle Shabatoski
Michelle came to yoga at a tumultuous stage of her life, completely unaware of the significant impact it would ultimately have on every aspect of her being. She was inspired to explore deeper into the ideology of yoga and its teachings, providing her the opportunity to share the beauty of yoga with others.
Michelle is a recent transplant from the prairies and is ecstatic to explore island life and experience much milder winters. She has always had a keen interest in wellness and the healing arts with extensive training in Western Medicine, Acupuncture, Qigong (Chinese energetic healing) and sound vibration healing. She considers herself a lifelong student and teacher of yoga. In her free time she can be found with her nose in a book, collecting books, smelling the roses and dancing in the sun amongst the rocks, water and trees.
